On 8 October the Culture and Leisure center in Balbieriškis hosted a workshop-discussion “Tolerance in a society. Why do we need to have more of it? ”
The topics of tolerance and intolerance were discussed at the workshop, and examples from the European and Lithuanian history of the 20th century were remembered. Emanuelis Zingeris, Chairman of the International Commission, spoke at the event about tolerance in the Lithuanian society. The examples of the history were introduced to the participants by Ingrida Vilkienė, coordinator of educational programs. Viktorija Bražiūnaitė, the head of the Lithuanian Social Business Association, spoke about understanding, respect and tolerance for people with disabilities. The event was attended by the Balbieriškis basic school community, members of the Balbieriškis Disabled People’s organization and the town community.
The event was organized by the Secretariat of the International Commission together with the Lithuanian Social Business Association and 2 Tolerance Education Centers from Balbieriškis: Balbieriškis Basic School and Balbieriškis Culture and Leisure Center.
