As the Day of the Restoration of Lithuanian Independence approached, the initiative “The Living Flower of the Nation” took place in Lithuanian mainstream educational institutions.
Every year, the Secretariat of the International Commission invites all Lithuanian educational institutions to take part in the initiative—to use our country’s symbols and the colors of the national flag in an attractive and playful way and to capture their creativity in photos to commemorate March 11.
This year, on March 11, 1990, the 35th anniversary of the restoration of Lithuania’s independence, 184 schools, kindergartens, and other educational institutions responded to the initiative.
This is the twelfth year of the National Citizenship Initiative. More than ten years ago, the idea was initiated by the Kąstytis Ramanauskas Nursery Kindergarten from Panevėžys, which proposed the initiative to the International Commission and suggested that all educational institutions share it.
