On February 22-23 a seminar “Holocaust and the Human Rights“ was organised for teachers, museum professionals and librarians. The event was initiated by Lithuanian Centre for Human Rights together with the Secretariat of the International Commission fror the Evaluation of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania and Education Development Centre.
The end of February was marked by an event in Kėdainiai for educators and culture workers from Alytus, Plungė, Šalčininkai and Ukmergė regions. In the seminar they talked about the Holocaust in Lithuania and Europe and infringement of the human rights during different periods in history. A representative from the Secretariat of the International Commission presented a program for Holocaust education, suggested teaching methods and the material recommended to be used in lessons. Representatives from Lithuanian Centre for Human Rights presented two projects: Uncomfortable Cinema Class and Remembrance Stones. Deborah Krieg, a guest from Germany, Frankfurt Anna Frank Educational Centre demonstrated new methods that can be used for working with students.
