School comunited are called to participate in a project Getting to know the Jewish cultural heritage.
The Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania declared 2020 to be the year of Vilnius Gaon and the history of the Jews of Lithuania. The Secretariat of the International Commission invites Tolerance education centers and mainstream schools to participate in the national competition for artistic expression in art works Getting to know the Jewish cultural heritage.
The aim of the contest is to develop a creative personality, who is seeking historical knowledge about the history of Lithuanian Jews. The contest aims to encourage pupils to become interested in the history, culture (traditions, festivals and customs) and cultural heritage of Jews – a national minority; to get to know the history of the homeland and the people who lived there; to develop pupils’ creativity. This project also encourages cooperation between teachers of different school subjects.
Pupils from grades 5 through 12 of all Lithuanian schools are invited to take part in the contest. Drawings can be executed, using various techniques. The drawings will be sent to Kėdainiai multicultural center (until 29 February). Later on the drawings will be evaluated by a commission of several persons (history teachers and art teachers), and the best works will be exhibited at Kėdainiai multicultural center.
The final project venue will take place in Kėdainiai on 27 March 2020.
