On 21 November, the Kupiškis Ethnographic Museum hosted the presentation of the publication “Kupiškis Residents – rescuers of Jews.”
In the exhibition hall of the Kupiškis Ethnographic Museum, an exhibition on Jewish rescuers and the publication “Kupiškis residents – rescuers of Jews” were presented. The event was honoured by the presence of special guests: the Ambassador of the State of Israel in Lithuania, Hadas Wittenberg Silverstein, the grandson of the Righteous Among the Nations, Elena and Juozapas Markevičius, the Chairman of the Jewish Community of Panevėžys, representatives of the Kupiškis District Municipality and the Kupiškis Town Municipality. The publication about the rescuers of the Kupiškis Jews, which was presented at the event, was compiled by the museologist Aušra Jonušytė.
The Kupiškis Ethnographic Museum is a long-standing partner of the International Commission and has a Tolerance Education Centre, which also brings together schools in the region working on the theme of historical memory.
