Lecture by historian Algirdas Jakubčionis on life in the Soviet society

On January 14, a lecture for Lithuanian teachers was given remotely by Assoc.prof.dr. Algirdas
Jakubčionis.


In his lecture, historian Algirdas Jakubčionis, a member of the International Commission‘s Subcommittee for the Evaluation of the Crimes of the Soviet Occupation Regimes, presented and analyzed the orders and resolutions that determined the life and daily routines of the people in the Soviet Union. With picturesque examples from various historical sources, the lecturer spoke about the prevailing attitudes in the Soviet system towards women, life, marriage and divorce, labor relations, and films’ themes for children and adults.

Many Lithuanian teachers – as many as 72 listeners – took part in the lecture remotely. The lecture was organized by the Secretariat of the International Commission under the educational program “Education on Crimes of Totalitarian Regimes, Prevention of Crimes against Humanity and Development of Tolerance”
