In September through December of 2021, the Vilna Gaon Museum of Jewish History implemented an educational project for students from Lithuanian regions to provide free trips to Vilnius to participate in the Museum’s educational activities and excursions.
Students and the teachers organizing the visits had the opportunity to choose between an excursion or educational class at the Samuelis Bakas Museum or the Holocaust exhibition and a tour of the Paneriai Memorial.
In total, 22 organized groups from different parts of Lithuania visited the Museum: from Neringa, Pagėgiai, Kalvarija, Viduklė, Voveriškės, Ariogala, Kelme, Utena, Jonava, Klaipėda, Kretinga, etc. 19 classes were held at the Samuelis Bakas Museum, 9 educational sessions were held at the Holocaust exposition, 16 excursions were held at these units and the Paneriai Memorial. 572 pupils in grades 7-12 and 42 teachers visited the Museum’s exhibitions and participated in the educational activities.
The project was organized by the Vilnius Gaon Museum of Jewish History in cooperation with the Embassy of the United States of America in Vilnius and the International Commission for the Evaluation of Crimes by the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania.
