Professor Liudas Truska, a historian, researcher, and long-standing member of the International Commission, passed away at the age of 87.
L. Truska graduated from Vilnius University in 1959. He worked at the Institute of History at the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences, Vilnius University, Vilnius Pedagogical University, Vytautas Magnus University, and the Lithuanian Genocide and Resistance Research Centre. Between 1998 and 2008, he was the Chairman of the Sub-Commission of the International Commission for the Evaluation of the Crimes of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania. As a member of the International Commission, he researched the topic of the preconditions of the Holocaust. The increase of anti-Semitism in Lithuania during the Soviet occupation (1940-1941).
The Professor was awarded the January 13th Medal.
