An international seminar for European teachers and educators took place in Berlin from 22 to 24 November.
The three-day seminar was attended by 23 teachers and educators from 18 European countries. The participants were educators who had taken part in seminars organised by Yad Vashem, the International School for Holocaust Studies in Israel. Ingrida Vilkienė, Education Programme Coordinator of the International Commission, represented Lithuania.
The aim of the seminar in Germany was to learn about the Wannsee Conference of 20 January 1942, when officers and bureaucrats from Nazi Germany discussed the “Final Solution of the Jewish Question” in Nazi-occupied territories.
The seminar participants took part in a field trip to the Wannsee Museum. They had the opportunity to learn about the history of the town of Wannsee and the building, a summer house, where the conference was held in 1942.
At the suggestion of active teachers from Germany, the participants were invited to a field trip to Berlin to get acquainted with the main institutions of the German authorities and the recent history of the end of the 20th century – the fall of the Berlin Wall and the changes that have shaped the historical development not only of Germany but also of other European countries.
The international seminar was organised by Yad Vashem, the International School for Holocaust Studies in Jerusalem, Israel, together with its German partner, the Wannsee Museum.
