In the spring of 2021, the Auschwitz-Birkenau Museum announced an international competition “My Memory, My Responsibility, At My Place.” Several projects submitted by the coordinators of the Tolerance Education Centers participated in this event.
The international competition was organized by the Auschwitz – Birkenau State Museum (Poland). 11 countries submitted projects for the competition “My memory, My Responsibility, At My Place.” The objective of the competition is to draw attention to historical memory and activities aimed at deliberately overcoming modern threats and promoting a positive attitude towards democracy, especially in local communities. During the evaluation of the works, special attention was given to the concept and versatility of the projects.

IInd award: Arūnė Vaičiūnaitė- Levuškinienė, Lithuania
IIIrd award: Jane Pashman, USA
The project “Discover Kalvarija” submitted by Arūnė Vaičiūnaitė-Levuškinienė, the coordinator of the Tolerance Education Center of Kalvarija gymnasium, was awarded the 2nd place. The Kalvarija TUC submitted presentations of 3 completed projects to the competition. They were related to the history of Kalvarija: it presents the history and heritage of the Jews of Kalvarija, offers the most important places of interest with their past, invites you to travel on the history awareness path – a walking route compiled under the project.
