On 26th October a conference was held at Vytautas Magnus University for teachers and educators “Challenges for Human Values in a Changing Society”.
The speakers of the conference tackled topics about the role of a teacher as an individual in developing a young personality. The conference raised more moral and philosophical questions than presented answers. After the event, the teachers said the need for such conferences was huge. The event was moderated by Ronaldas Račinskas, Executive Director of the International Commission. Reviewing the presentations delivered, questions raised by the participants, Ronaldas Račinskas summarized: “It is important to talk about values in the education system; it is important not only for the pupils but also for the teachers as well”.
Over 70 teachers and educational staff attended the event. The conference was organized by the International Commission for the Evaluation of the Crimes of the Nazi and Soviet Occupation Regimes in Lithuania, Kaunas “Veršvos” Gymnasium, Vytautas Magnus University and the Sugihara Foundation „Diplomats for Life“.
