November 30th – December 1st, Klaipėda “Gedminai“ Progymnasium hosted a national conference for the communities of Tolerance Education Centers. The event was named “The Tolerance Fair 2017“. There were teachers and students from 17 Tolerance Education Centres in Lithuania.
Participants of the conference presented their activities, projects on the issues of tolerance, intolerance as well as topics of humanistic values during the 20th century. Teachers and students were involved in a variety of activities: students worked on practical issues of tolerance, teachers had meetings, discussions, creative workshops on intercultural education, challenges and possibilities in education.
Participants were amazed by a unique opportunity to watch a performance “Rainbow“ (Vaivorykste) by the disabled people from Klaipeda. Students from Alytus Adolfas Ramanauskas – Vanagas Gymnasium performed a composition about the children in exhile.
Two new Tolerance Education Centres were established in Klaipeda University and Kretinga Kurmaiciai Primary school during this conference.
The event was held by Klaipeda Gedminai Progymnasium Tolerance Education Centre together with the Secretariat of the International Commission. This Tolerance Fair was a second event in the same institution, – the first one was organized in 2012.
