On 5 December, the traditional partisan song festival “The Path of Freedom” was held at the “Atgimimo” school in Druskininkai.
Representatives of more than twenty Lithuanian schools took part in the event. This year’s Song Festival was also attended by three adult groups: the Choir of Exiles and Political Prisoners of Druskininkai, the Ratnyčėlė Band, and the Women’s Ensemble of the University of the Third Age “Vakarėjant.”
The songs sung by the partisans were performed on the stage of the Druskininkai “Atgimimo” school, both in new arrangements and in the traditional way, trying to recreate the melodies of the mid-20th century.
This is the 14th edition of the Partisan Song Festival “The Path of Freedom.” The Festival of Partisan Songs “The Path of Freedom” is organised by the Tolerance Education Centre of Druskininkai “Atgimimo” School in cooperation with the Secretariat of the International Commission and other local institutions.
